Abstract

An energy-efficient catalytic system for the one-pot production of 1-octanol from biomass-derived furfural-acetone (FFA) was developed, using a hydrophilic Pd/NbOPO4catalyst together with an acidic additive in water, which creates an intentional “phase problem” to prevent the over-hydrogenolysis of 1-octanol inton-octane.
