Glycopolymer hydrogels capable of mimicking mucosal tissue in mucoadhesion testing have been designed. Mucoadhesive polymers were found to be retained on these tissues to the same extent as ex vivo stomach mucosa, when using a dynamic method of assessing mucoadhesion.
