Abstract

The covalent bonding pattern in B2M2 and B2M3+ mimics C2 molecule. The viability of ligand-stabilized L–B2Li2–L (L = NHC, PPh3) complexes is studied. Li2B2(NHC)2 can activate CO and CO2 to a larger extent than B2(NHC)2.
