Abstract

Using PEEM to image ferromagnetism in polycrystalline Ni disks, and ferroelectricity in their single-crystal BaTiO3 substrates, we find that voltage-driven 90° ferroelectric domain switching serves to annihilate magnetic vortices via uniaxial compressive strain.
