Abstract

In the present work cyclic current profile performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells in stationary application is shown. The studies were carried out in a H2/air PEMFC 32 cm2 geometric area using SGL carbon material. The electrodes were prepared using a solution with 30% Pt/C (ETEK) catalyst and 33% by weight of Nafion® deposited on the diffusion layer (ETEK LT 1200w) by spray technique. The catalyst loading of both electrodes was 0.26 mg Pt-cm-2. Membrane Electrode Assembly was aged for 11700 cycles and characterized for a full set of performance and component parameters after each around 4000 cycles where diagnosis procedures were executed. The diagnosis consists in polarization curve, H2 crossover rate and electrochemical active surface (ECA) area by CV.
