Abstract

In the present work ORR results on RuxSey in presence of formic acid are reported and compared to Pt/C. Both materials were synthesized by the carbonyl chemical way. The advantages of the RuxSey for the ORR with respect to the Pt/C are discussed. The studies were made in half-cell arrangement at 25{degree sign}C and with different formic acid concentrations (0.01M, 0.1 M and 1M). The first results show performance loss of 0.10 V at a current density of 0.1 mA/cm2 for the RuxSey in 1 M of HCOOH. Using the half-cell data, the current-potential polarization and power density curves for a membrane-less system based on formic acid, using RuxSey as cathode, and Pd as anode were generated
