Abstract

In this study, Dayton et al. generated mice lacking PKM2, an isoform of pyruvate kinase, and found that, over time, the mice develop a metabolic syndrome that leads to spontaneous hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs). These results provide new insights into the role of PKM2 in the regulation of systemic metabolic homeostasis and inflammation.
