Abstract

The influence of the hypothalamic peptide orexin A on feeding behavior is highlighted. The purpose of this mini-review is to show that orexin A influences food intake through changes in body temperature. The involvement of the sympathetic nervous system in the reactions induced by orexin A is also reported, emphasizing the relationship between this peptide and the autonomic nervous system in controlling body weight.
