Abstract

The critical state with a magnetic field dependent critical current density jc(B) has been calculated numerically in superconducting tapes, for magnetic fields above the full penetration field. By using a finite element computation, the magnetic field profiles and the current distribution in the tapes have been calculated both for monofilamentary and for multifilamentary tapes with several aspect ratio of the filaments. Particular attention has been paid to the investigation of the effects of the sample geometry and of the jc(B) dependence on the field profiles and on the hysteresis loop.
