Abstract

•The relationship between area deprivation and AMD diagnosed from fundus photographs was examined.•Data from 5182 participants from the EPIC-Norfolk Eye study were analyzed.•Predominantly early AMD was identified in 653 participants (12.6%).•People living in more affluent areas had nearly half the risk of AMD.•Results require interpretation with caution due to the healthy population studied.
