We appreciate the responses of Besson-Fournier et al. and Ryan et al. to our report that the allele fre- quency of GNPAT p.D519G (rs11558492) in HFE C282Y homozygotes with low alcohol consumption (10 g iron removed to achieve iron depletion and/or hepatic iron concentra- tion > 236 lmol/g dry weight) than i n men with mild iron phenotypes
