Abstract

This study investigates the usage of green technology regarding water based facilities in context with the Danish nature and the Danish designs. Hydroelectric plants are not that widespread in Denmark, but in the rest of the Nordic countries their contribution to the electric grid is massive . This study will determine the reason/reasons why Denmark, as a country surrounded by water, has not succeeded in transforming the waters kinetic and potential energy to useful energy. We will explain how some of the new wave facilities, currently under scale tests at sea, works. Furthermore some of the challenges regarding the environment and some of the methods to accumulate the energy and deliver it to the consumers will be discussed. We will not deal with the way the different turbines converts the kinetic energy to electric power. At last we will propose a new way to harvest the wave energy and conclude if this solution has better future prospect than the already existing hydropower facilities in Denmark.
