The Co atom of the title compound, [Co(C₈H₁₀F₃O₂)₂(CH₃OH)₂], which is located on a crystallographic inversion center, exhibits a distorted octahedral geometry. The bidentate acetylacetonate-like ligands are in a trans arrangement. The plane through the acetylacetonate unit is tilted with respect to the CoO₄ plane by 17.41 (7)°, which is in the same range as observed for similar Co(acac)₂OR ₂ derivatives. Via the methanol hydroxy groups, each molecule participates in two pairs of intermolecular hydrogen bonds that create a network of hydrogen-bonded chains along the direction of the a axis.
