Abstract

Magnetostriction λ∥(H) and field-induced phase transitions were studied in the single crystal of La1−xSrxMnO3 (x=0, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.175) in the pulsed magnetic fields up to 230 kOe. Anomalies in the λ∥(H) curves were revealed at 200 kOe in the LaMnO3, which were identified with the spin-reorientation AyFz→AzFy in the magnetic field H∥b axis. A complicated magnetostriction behavior was observed in La0.875Sr0.175MnO3, related to the field-induced transition between orthorhombic and rhombohedral crystal structures.
