Abstract

The ceramic shell moulds were fabrication for precision investment casting process. The material used to preparation the shell moulds play significant role in manufacturing engine turbine parts with proper quality. Nowadays ethyl silicate is typically binder for manufacturing ceramic shell moulds, but it is based on ethyl alcohol and it exhibit effects on the human health and work comfort. The laboratories for investment casting are conducted research for use water-soluble binders based on colloidal silica. In this work comparison of technological properties of two different manufacturing systems were done. Research such as: SEM and tomography investigation, profilometry, porosity or mechanical strength were characterized. Comparison of full characteristic of fabrication new shell clearly shown that new solutions are very promising in future industrial application.
