Abstract

The seeds of Plectranthus amboinicuswere found to contain about 27% of oil. The fatty acid composition of the seed oil was determined using the analysis of GC and GC-MS. Linolenic acid (31.5%) was found to be major fatty acid followed by linoleic (26.3%), oleic (22.7%), palmitic (12.8%) and stearic (5.8%) acids.
