Abstract

Solid pseudopapillary tumors (SPT) of the pancreas are extremely rare neoplasms that occur predominantly in young females. Excellent prognosis usually can be achieved after curative resection, but metastasis has been reported extremely rarely. Here we report 2 patients with SPT who developed liver metastases after curative resection. We used aggressive management, and both have now survived for more than 2 years. We recommend that such patients should be followed up closely, even after curative resection. Furthermore, long-term survival can be expected after aggressive treatment of the metastatic lesions.
