Abstract

This presentation focuses on the research to determine the feasibility of utilizing cadaver dogs as a remote sensing tool to assist in the location of historic and prehistoric human burials to prevent unintentional excavation or to better assist salvage operations. Training, testing, and practical applications and the results will be highlighted along with presenting best practices for the utilization of cadaver dogs in the archaeological survey process. Archaeologist will become more informed on the capabilities of cadaver dogs and how to evaluate the claims of the handlers.
