Abstract

1 , culturally relevant and valid parent questionnaires such as the DCDQ'07 are recommended as a first-step instrument to assess criterion B of the DSM-IV-TR and support the diagnosis of developmental coordination disorder. The DCDQ'07 (www.dcdq.ca) is a reliable and valid parent questionnaire that assesses the movement performance in significant everyday activities of children aged 5 to 15 2 . While a French-Canadian version presently exists 3 , a European-French version does not. A cross-cultural adaptation of the DCDQ'07 for use in areas of Europe where French is spoken was produced in 2013 4 . The pretesting and cognitive interviews revealed response problems due to interpretation errors, cultural differences and confusion due to negatively worded items. It was important to determine whether the European-French version (DCDQ-EF), with implemented modifications, such as rewording of the negative items into positive ones (items 14 and 15), was still reliable and equivalent to the DCDQ'07.
