Abstract

Inhaled bronchodilators are the cornerstone of pharmacological management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in elderly patients. Because of the multiple comorbidities and age-related physiological changes in the elderly, a careful assessment of the risks versus benefits of bronchodilator and corticosteroid treatment in the individual patient is necessary.
