Abstract

The synthesis and characterization of three charge-neutral Ru complexes which includes [Ru(ibpz)2(PPhMe2)2] and [Ru(ibpz)2(PPh2Me)2] were discussed. The PPhMe2 ligand had the expected trans configuration with the iso-quinoline pyrazolate chelating ligands occupying the four coordination positions in the square plane of the octahedrally coordinated ruthenium atom. The CF3-substituted pyrazolate ligand caused a spectrometric blue-shift for both the π-π and MLCT transitions and also increased the transition moment. The fabrication of a phosphorescent OLED device utilizing Ru complexes was also demonstrated.
