A technique of detecting differential rotation from time-series Doppler images is introduced and applied to LQ Hya and IL Hya. Fitting the cross-correlation pattern subtracted from a series of cross-correlated consecutive Doppler images, for the rapidly rotating K2 dwarf LQ Hya we find a weak (α = 0.0057) equatorial acceleration. A possible solar-type differential rotation is found on the giant component of the RS CVn-type IL Hya with α = 0.017.
