Abstract

The paper outlines work in the CONVERSE project which aims to bring about a significant reduction in the costs and timescales of developing software for aircraft engine controllers. An overview of the design of engine controllers is given, and some of the business drivers that have motivated the project are discussed. The idea of an engine controller 'product line' is introduced and some of the technical approaches under development to respond to business and technical challenges are described
