Abstract

Reaction of a carbene precursor containing (in anthracene fluorophore and two N-picolyl moieties with Hg(OAc)(2) produces the title complex. X-ray studies and UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy confirm that a strong interaction exists between the mercury atom and anthracene.
