Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Threading nanobeads: Gold nanoparticles (NPs) coated with functional organic ligands are candidate building blocks for the bottom-up fabrication of nanostructured materials. This Highlight describes a recent approach to achieving bidirectional NP-NP connectivity, which is an essential step in the assembly of NP-based polymers (see scheme) and more complex nanoarchitectures.
