Abstract

Small fullerene isomer: A brand-new small fullerene D2-#916C56 has been stabilized by chlorination and its structure with four pairs of fused pentagons has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The availability of this novel #916C56 species affords valuable insight into the most prevalent small fullerene.
