Abstract

Synthesis of charge-separable and hole-transporting dendrimers with chalcone at the periphery, thiadiazole as core and triazole as branching unit has been achieved through 'click' reaction. The dendrimers are used as a charge separator in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and exhibit higher open-circuit voltage than the bare film through the suppression of back electron transfer. As the dendrimer generations increases the dimension of the dendrimer also increases, resulting in a stronger association with I-3(-) redox couple and higher open-circuit.
