Abstract

The topography of fixed abrasive grinding pad has a significant effect on the process of grinding analysis. A new numerical modeling technique has been proposed to generate the grinding pad topography with spherical grains in this paper. The simulation result was given by software. Five fixed abrasive grinding pads with different grain sizes were measured by using a confocal scanning laser microscope. Comparing the results of simulation and the experiment, it can be concluded that the simulated profile of the grinding pad is corresponding well with that of the actual pad.
