Abstract

The problem of deducing the stability conditions of the low layers of troposphere is examined. More specifically, the possibility of determining the stability conditions through the air temperature vertical fictitious profiles obtained by measurements carried out near the soil surface is investigated. Experimental data observed in a study area of Central Italy were used. Results indicate that the fictitious profiles can be used to approximate the actual profiles particularly when a representation of atmospheric stability for climatologic applications is involved.
