Abstract

Madiha Doss is a professor of Linguistics in the French Section of Cairo University and a member of the March 9th Initiative for Cairo University’s Independence. She also played an active role in almost all recent protests for human rights, civil rights and democracy in Egypt prior to the January 25th Revolution. Doss gives a detailed narrative of the Revolution from her perspective. She went to Taḥrīr Square almost every day from January 25 until February 11. She reflects on the events from both a political and social perspective as a member of the intellectual elite in Cairo. ; The University on the Square: Documenting Egypt's 21st Century Revolution project was made possible by a grant from the Andrew W.
