Abstract

Treatment of uterine leiomyoma (UL) has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. Novel and more efficient drugs have been developed to treat adverse conditions. However, hysterectomies are still highly prevalent in some countries, like USA (1), at an annual expense of 2 billion dollars (2). It is widely accepted that surgical indications can be affected by regional and cultural influences. Prevalence of surgery may vary according to the health professional's personal beliefs (3) and sociodemographic characteristics (4). However, few studies have described the motives that influence a woman's decision to seek or avoid hysterectomy. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
