The Lake Abhe basin is located in Southern Afar (Ethiopia-Djibouti). We studied its sedimentary and structural features through remote sensing data. The study area is covered by flood basalts forming plateaus, which are dissected by extensional tectonics: the relation between structural evolution and basin formation and modification have been observed.
