Abstract

In order to evaluate the potential of nanofiltration on the detoxification of hemicellulosic hydrolysates, an experiment using a nanofiltration based on diafiltration experiment was made. Experiments with extracted olive pomace (EOP) dilute acid hydrolysate, showed that acetic acid can be depleted from the original hydrolysate together with formic and levulinic acids, HMF and furfural enabling the growth and xylitol production by the yeast Debaryomyces hanseni
