Abstract

Water supply in the Upper Elbe River Valley depends to almost 40% on river bank infiltrate. Monitoring systems, consisting of a series of multilevel observation tubes, were placed along the stream tubes of important municipal water works. The paper discusses chemical changes of the infiltrate during the flow and migration process. There are indications that a change in the Elbe River water quality leads to an improvement of the raw water.
