Abstract

METHODS 16 ASD children (age range 5.5-12) were recruited from an eligible sample of 70 patients and randomized into two groups. Here we report complete findings concerning 6 children only. During 40 sessions, group 1 underwent the CSP, while group 2 was involved in non-motor interactive tasks. Previous rehabilitation programs were maintained in both groups. ECAR-T test monitored the autistic behaviors evolution throughout the training sessions, while a battery of neuropsychological tests (PEP-3, M-ABC, VABS) and recordings of neurophysiological parameters (2-4) monitored possible changes in social and motor domains by the CSP completion. Moreover, progresses in the specific relational skills trained by the CSP were rated using a new scale (EC2IM), thus assessing the efficiency of this novel training program. In CSP three levels-types of activities, hierarchically organized for autonomy in the execution and implementation difficulties are integrated: " The Cooperation and Sharing project: assessment of a new intervention strategy in ASD children " PRELIMINARY RESULTS CONCLUSION AIM: We developed and assessed a new intervention strategy, that we labeled " Cooperation and Sharing Program " (CSP), in 3 different clinical units for Autism. CSP aims at improving relational abilities in ASD children by proposing them with activities in which each child is required to improve his/her autonomy in achieving a goal, by means of motor activity. a) Evolution of the performance of Group 1 subjects-measured each 10 sessions-by EC2IM scale (0=weak performance; 4=excellent). b) Evolution of the performance of one Group 1 subject measured by EC2IM scale. c) Comparison of the performance evolution between Group 1 and Group 2 children. Istograms were obtained by subtracting the scores of the initial evaluation (T0) from the final ones (T4). d) The picture illustrates one snapshot of Déménageur Test performed by ASD children.
