Design, visualization and simulation of services have so far been considered problematic and require new perspectives as well as appropriate tools and techniques. This paper introduces how services can be tested and developed in a laboratory type of environment. ServLab combines virtual reality and service theatre as part of the development, design and evaluation process. Service development within ServLab was realized in two projects in which the focus was on testing services and on training employees.
