Abstract

Borgia et al. (2014) illustrated an active volcanic spreading model for the Amiata volcanic area (southern Tuscany, Italy). Although, at first glance, the model may appear appealing, this is not fully supported by the avail- able data and the paper does not take into account their discussion. Accordingly, the supposed negative conse- quences of the Borgia et al. (2014) model on both contamination of shallow water and geothermal exploitation can likely be regarded as speculative.
