Abstract

A new approach involving the in situ hydrolysis of diethyl carbonate in calcium-containing solution was proposed for the controlled precipitation of CaCO3. CaCO3 crystals with exquisite morphologies and colors have been fabricated through this approach in the presence of organic molecules.
