Abstract

This study reports what has changed with SPM-1-producing P. aeruginosa 13 years late of the first report. The dissemination of blaSPM-1in Brazil by P. aeruginosa has been broadly reported, however, no virulence factors encoding-genes were searched in these isolates, and we investigate sample from 3 different cities are at least 500km away from each other. Important VF and QS systems that contribute to successful bacterial colonization and infection were identified in the studied isolates. The knowledge regarding the genetic context of resistance and virulence contribute to following the evolution of this bacterial pathogen, routes of dissemination and future establishment of epidemiological control measures.
