Abstract

RESUMEN Se estudia el comportamiento de la carga axial en las columnas de edificios estructurados con marcos de acero con contraventeo concéntrico en modelos de 4, 8, 12 y 16 niveles, sometidos a 10 registros históricos y 10 artificiales que se escalaron y adecuaron para asociarse a espectros típicos de suelos firmes. Los análisis dinámicos no lineales se realizaron en el programa Opensees. En el estudio comparan las magnitudes máximas de carga axial en columnas (y otros valores estadísticos a percentiles 50 y 84) con métodos publicados y se propone una metodología para su determinación desde la etapa de diseño elástico. ABSTRACT Variation in axial load of columns of multi-storey concentrically braced steel frames were studied for 4-, 8-, 12-and 16-storys models. Structures were subjected to an ensemble of 10 historical seismic records and 10 simulated records which were scaled according to the design spectrum for firm soils. Peak values for the axial loads in columns (as well 84th and 50th percentile statistical values) were compared with some methods already published to determine the axial load in columns of braced frames. A new method is proposed to estimate the axial load of braced frames.
