Abstract

Treatment of OsCl2(PPh3)3 with 1,3-(PPh2CH2)2C6H4 led to the formation of the coordinatively unsaturated complex OsCl(PPh3)(PCP) (PCP = 2,6-(PPh2CH2)2C6H3). Reactions of OsCl(PPh3)(PCP) with RC triple bond CH (R = Ph, t-Bu, C(OH)Ph2) gave OsCl(double bond C double bond CHR)(PPh3)(PCP). Treatment of OsCl(double bond C double bond CHPh)(PPh3)(PCP) and OsCl(double bond C double bond CHC(OH)Ph2)(PPh3)(PCP) with HCl produced the carbyne complexes OsCl2(triple bond CCH2Ph)(PCP) and OsCl2(triple bond CCH double bond CPh2)(PCP), respectively. The solid-state structures of OsCl(PPh3)(PCP) and OsCl(double bond C double bond CHPh)(PPh3)-(PCP) have been determined by X-ray diffraction. ; Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology
