Abstract

This paper proposes a new structure of series-parallel switched-capacitor based multilevel inverter with a simple control strategy and the minimum number of switches in comparison with the other similar structures. This converter steps up the output voltage and produce multilevel waveform to reduce the harmonic distortions of the output voltage and current. The proposed inverter steps up voltage by using of the switching capacitors without using any transformer or inductor. So, small size, light weight and high efficiency, are the main advantages of the proposed inverter. The proposed inverter with these advantages may be useful in the low-voltage applications such as photovoltaic and fuel cell.
