Abstract

The aim of the ProGasNet (Probabilistic Gas Network) project is to simulate the European transmission gas network under both reliability and capacity constraints given by the stochastically imperfect network elements, which can randomly fail with known failure probabilities. This paper presents results of a reliability model study by using Monte Carlo (MC) simulation approach and fault tree analysis method. Then these results are compared and analyzed. Finally, a MC approach was used in order to model a test case of the European gas transmission network. ; JRC.F.3-Energy Security, Systems and Market
