Abstract

We consider the conversion of broadband infrared light, generated from photonic crystal fibers, into visible pulses, through frequency conversion in quadratic biaxial crystals. We exploit the nonlinear envelope technique to predict cubic and quadratic ultrabroadband dynamics and to guide the experiments. The combination of photonic crystal fibers and quadratic crystals provides the possibility to produce signal wavelengths with a great flexibility.
