Abstract

A technique for comparing maps was described using spatial autocorrelation methods. The spatial distribution of the map classification is captured through the introduction of ancillary data and the consideration of spatial autocorrelation. It was observed that the spatially autocorrelated differences were found to occur within ecozones that are transition areas between forest and non-forest interfaces. It was shown that the given approach enable end users of map products to make informed decisions regarding various large area land cover products.
