Abstract

The reaction between [Pd{C6H4CH2N=CH(2,6-C6H3Cl2)}Br]2 and PhCCPh gives the bis-insertion compound [Pd{(PhC=CPh)2C6H4CH2N=CH(2,6-C6H3Cl2} Br] in good yield. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/a, with a 18.757(3), b 15.678(3), c, 12.150(2) Å β 92.83(2)° and Z = 4; R = 0.063 for 2076 reflections. The palladium atom is coordinated to Br, N, C(18), and the centre of the C(15)–C(16) double bond in a distorted square-planar geometry.
