We used ultra-pure soft water to evaluate improvements in skin barrier function.•The subjects of this study were child atopic dermatitis patients.•We performed a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover pilot study.•Significant differences in out-in skin transparency and pruritus were recognized.
