Abstract

Methods and compositions suitable for influencing insect behavior are provided. In a preferred embodiment, the compositions comprise a blend of between two and eight insect attractant compounds selected from the group consisting of: a) compounds of formula (I); b) compounds of formula (II); c) compounds of formula (III). Wherein: n is zero or an integer; x is zero or an integer selected from 1-8, or greater than 9; and R is a C1-C12 alkyl. The compositions are useful as bait, with or without other mammalian body odour constituents or synthetic attractants, to attract disease carrying insects to traps or targets.
