The spinycheek crayfish, Orconectes limosus (Rafinesque), was recorded in the Tamiš River (Danube tributary) in Serbia on August 13. 2011. This is a new record of this invasive non-indigenous crayfish species to have spread from the Danube River to its tributaries in Serbia. Orconectes limosus exhibits high invasive capability and is one of the most widely distributed non-indigenous crayfish species in Europe. This species carries crayfish plague and presents a serious threat to the native European crayfish biota. Broader occurrence of O. limosus in Serbian rivers is expected, thus further research concerning the current distribution of the spinycheek crayfish in the country is needed.
