Abstract

In this paper we report on changes in the coherent scattering due to sulphonation of poly(butylene teraphatalate) (PBT) when it is blended with polycarbonate (PC). Data from spin-polarised wide-angle neutron scattering are combined with intermediate angle neutron scattering and wide-angle X-ray scattering data for a series of SPBT/PC blends. This provides more detailed information about the local conformation and ordering of the polymers in the bulk than was possible from the X-ray data alone, and leads to a better understanding of polymer–polymer miscibility on the local level.
